A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in July.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the courthouse on Friday.

However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

The accused was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a youth camp which he ran.

Ruben played a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.

She said the man had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC stated items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his family member notified the police about his worries.

She explained Ruben went on to engage in the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she continued.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.

The legal representative stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member notified the law enforcement once more.

She explained the defendant then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
